A thermocontact tray system with temperature-controlled heating zones


Heating zones with temperature control and smart sensors

The thermocontact system in the ThermoLine® ReTherm meal distribution system is not located in the ward trolley – rather it is integrated into the tray itself. Each tray has at least two stainless steel heating zones.

The heating zones, with their temperature controls and smart sensors, warm the dishes to exactly the right temperature, guaranteeing that each individual dish is served at its optimal temperature, depending on quantity, consistency and starting temperature.

During the heating phase, heat passes through the dishware directly into the dish in an energy efficient way. Once the desired temperature has been reached, the heating zone automatically switches on and off with a hysteresis of ± 1°C.

Perfect reheating results

The temperature controlled regenerating process results in a gentle reheating of meal components. Even sensitive dishes such as rice pudding won’t adhere to the sides of the bowl. The ThermoLine® ReTherm system makes skin formation, drying out and overheating all things of the past. Important vitamins and trace elements are retained, as are the appetising appearance and aroma of the meal.

The most energy-efficient distribution system on the market

Each heating zone is embedded in an insulated base (no.1). The heating zones are activated via an insulated dome. When the dish is covered by the dome, it will be heated as soon as the regeneration programme is started (no.2). As a result of the direct contact between heating zone and dishware, the tray regenerates the dish precisely, and very efficiently, to the set temperature (no.3).

The result:
A tray which provides excellent thermal separation between hot and cold dishes. Hot stays hot, and cold stays cold.

Modern energy savings

The heating programme, once activated, heats only the dishes themselves and not the entire ward trolley. When only 4 hot meals are stacked in the trolley, then only the energy required for 4 trays will be consumed.

No additional energy required for cooling

With the thermal separation of hot and cold dishes, pre-chilled dishes do not require additional energy for subsequent cooling.

No gloves needed for serving

As a result of their insulation properties, and the minimal levels of radiated heat, no gloves are required to hold the trays, thereby simplifying the work of ward personnel.
